A PWL Stop Ring, or sometimes referred to as a PWL Stop Collar, is designed to prevent the downward movement or slippage of a specific tool or device along the wireline. It is typically positioned at a predetermined location along the wireline to provide a fixed stopping point.
The stop ring is generally made of a durable material such as steel or alloy and is designed to withstand the high pressures, temperatures, and abrasive conditions encountered during drilling operations. It often features a threaded or clamping mechanism that allows it to be securely attached to the wireline.
By incorporating a PWL Stop Ring in the wireline assembly, drillers can control the depth at which certain tools or devices are deployed or retrieved within the wellbore, ensuring precise positioning and facilitating efficient and safe operations.
PWL Core Barrel
A PWL core barrel typically comprises several key components, including an outer tube, inner tube, and a core lifter. The core lifter is a critical mechanism designed to securely hold and extract the core sample from the geological formation. The inner tube is used to collect the core sample, while the outer tube provides protection to the core sample during drilling and retrieval. PWL core barrels adhere to specific dimensions, with an inner tube diameter of approximately 3.375 inches (85.7 millimetres).
