Wireline core drilling systems are often used for medium to very-deep boreholes, which provides the most efficient core sample extraction from the rock mass, without pulling the entire drill string. The rock sample is removed from the bottom of the hole in the inner tube assembly by an overshot on a wireline cable, saving time and money doing so.

The HWL3 core barrel has an overall diameter of 95.76mm or 3.77 Inches, with a coring (inside) diameter of 63.63mm or 2.5 Inches. The sturdy barrel and decent sample size makes HWL one of the most popular forms of wireline core extraction.

This bit is part of the Eagle Series. The Eagle 4 is forged with the diamond slightly exposed from the bit matrix, meaning this series of Coring Bit is best suited to tackle very soft to soft rock formations such as Sand, Clay, Chalk, Salt and Soft Limestone.

Drill-Its Eagle set of drill bits are our range of Set To Liner Wireline models, meaning the casing string that does not extend to the top of the wellbore, but instead is anchored or suspended from inside the bottom of the previous casing string. There is no difference between the casing joints themselves.

Selecting The Right Bit

Please refer to the following graphs to establish if the bit you are purchasing is right for the job.. The following graphs demonstrate what series of core drill bit and what drill bit profile would be appropriate for differing rock formations.

Eagle Coring

The Drill-It collection of Eagle coring tools are our range of high quality coring drill bits that are specifically engineered for Set to Liner usage. Developed to the customers requirements, they are perfect for tackling the toughest rock drilling conditions seen around the world.

The advantage to the well designer of a liner is a substantial savings in steel. To save casing, however, additional tools and risk are involved. The well designer decides whether to design for a liner or a casing string that goes all the way to the top of the well. The liner can be fitted with special components so that it can be connected to the surface at a later time if needed.
