Kestrel 8 - AWL Core Drill Bit - Standard

Wireline core drilling systems are often used for medium to very-deep boreholes, which provides the most efficient core sample extraction from the rock mass, without pulling the entire drill string. The rock sample is removed from the bottom of the hole in the inner tube assembly by an overshot on a wireline cable, saving time and money doing so.

The AWL core barrel has an overall diameter of 47.75mm or 1.88 Inches, with a coring (inside) diameter of 27.10mm or 1.067 Inches. The sturdy barrel and decent sample size makes BWL a great choice of wireline core extraction.

This bit is part of the Kestrel Series. The Kestrel 8 is forged with the diamond very exposed from the bit matrix, meaning this series of Coring Bit is built for medium to medium hard formations, making it more effective for drilling through rocks such as Sandy Limestone, Sandy Shale, Claystone and Limestone.

Drill-Its Kestrel set of drill bits are our range of Standard Wireline coring tools, meaning that they use Core Barrel Drill-Line Inner Tube Plastic Liner consisting of a clear, thin-wall extruded rigid plastic tube of which by accurate manufacturing processes is manufactured to close tolerances on both the outside and the inside diameters. Clearance between the O.D. of the “Drill-Line'' and I.D. of the Core Barrel inner tube is therefore carefully controlled and allows easy fitting of the Plastic Tube into the inner tube in the field. When the clear plastic material is used (inserted) it will not contaminate the Core sample during drilling and encapsulation. The material does not absorb water and will not swell or change shape
